Ethnic groups of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan contains 126 different ethnic groups. Historical migratory movements, along what was commonly known as the Silk Road, produced a mosaic of people extremely vast: Kazakh, Turkmen, Persian, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Uygur, Chinese, Russian, Dungan, Ukrainian, Tatar to mention few. During Soviet times and particularly during the Second World War a massive influx of people settled in what is now Kazakhstan; Turks, Greeks, Koreans, Germans, Chechens, Ingush, Crimean Tatars, and Poles.
