Abdujaboor Tohir was the founder of the Rastokhez civil movement. After a degree in economics obtained from the Tajik State University, in 1971, he worked at the Institute of Economy and as a translator in Iran and Afghanistan. It is in 1989 that he launched the Rastokhez. Between 1990 and 1992 he cooperated with the leaders of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan and the Democratic Party of Tajikistan both part of the opposition. The 13 years of exile he had (1993 - 2006) proved the difficulties of the years of the newly established Tajikistan.
